ELAD-IE (Information Exchange) is a system for flexible exchange and processing of information which combines the functions of an electronic communication system and an electronic document archive.
The main purpose of ELAD-IE is targeted delivery of time-sensitive information to users via electronic mail and easy, accurate and prompt exchange of data among system users.
System capabilities
Generates email messages containing news and other information based on subscriber-selected criteria, parameters and sectors, in a selected language (each message is generated individually for each subscriber and is sent on a preset schedule).
On-line access to the news archive and other types of information, as well as document search based on criteria, sections and contexts.
Spam filter.
Change of user preferences at any time.
Data storage in any language.
ELAD-IE is a tool which enables the customer to deliver his information to all parties. This product is a modern system of distribution of business, financial and scientific information for a wide circle of users.
System advantages
Advantages of the ELAD-IE system are based on the advantages of ELAD technology. The system provides:
High reliability and accuracy in data storage.
Reliable processing of large masses of data.
Simultaneous access for an unlimited number of users.
High level of information security.
Scalability and migration of the product.
ELAD-IE users avoid large HTML pages loaded with unwanted banners and ads. Compressed, well-structured messages do not strain mailbox storage capacity and save users’ time in reviewing and doing primary processing of information.
ELAD-IE has an auxiliary back-office system allowing for remote administration and criteria setting, and can be used in any activity related to information flows.
Functionality principles
Information providers load their data through a secure portion of the website and classify it within sections in the system. New information is periodically emailed to those subscribers who have expressed interest in the particular subject in their profile. A general data archive is located on the system’s server, which can be accessed through the Internet and includes an advanced search engine.
Electronic news and other data are grouped by categories and contain the title and a short 60-80 word abstract. The abstract can also contain links to pages with more detailed information located on the ELAD-IE server.
Time-sensitive information is generated individually for every user based on selected criteria. Messages are generated on command from the system administrator.
ELAD-IE provides access to the system for the following categories of users:
"participant" (information provider) ― provides news, business and scientific information, which is then emailed to "subscribers". Any site visitor can become a "participant" after filling out a specified questionnaire, which automatically makes a "participant" also a "subscriber". He then receives an email containing his ID number and credits―i.e., the volume of information he is allowed to place. Invoice and account information can also be sent via email to "participants" and "subscribers".
"subscribers"― receive information and have unlimited access to the data archive on the ELAD-IE site. "Subscribers" fill out a registration form, where they specify information categories that are of interest. Personal information and subscription parameters can be updated or changed at any time.
"visitors" ― any unregistered visitor gets access to:
the document catalogue,
the document search engine based on specific criteria (category, type, date, language, etc.),
"visitors" can also apply to become "participants" or "subscribers".
System architecture
The system is developed in a three-layer architecture based on ELAD technology in the J2EE v1.2.1 standard, which is compatible with any database management system of any modern J2EE-compatible application server and under any operating system on any hardware platform. The existing version uses Oracle 9i Database, Oracle 9i Rel.2 AppServer, Linux or Windows.
To meet the requirements of the product, the functionality of ELAD was expanded by integrating it with an email module and an administration module. The system has a custom-build web-interface.
