FORS Development Center offers specialized applications for organizing supply chains allows companies to minimize cost, optimize service levels, support sustainability initiatives, and create flexible business process automation within their transportation and logistics networks.
Oracle Transportation Management program module forms part of a set of applications for supply chain management but is an independent system and can be incorporated as a separate product.
Oracle Transportation Management can be used by:
Transportation and logistics companies;
Product manufacturers (as part of the whole chain from procurement to manufacturing and sale);
Distribution companies supplying ready-made products from manufacturers to consumers.
Oracle Transportation Management module allows to fully computerize and systemize the process of forming, changing and completing an order as well as to find economically reasonable solutions based on the analysis of logistics information including data on establishing tariffs and delivery routes, projected and actual calculations of revenues/expenses using various algorithms, data on trips and schedules, estimation of storage terminal capacities.
Optimization of transportation plans automatically includes numerous business limitations. This allows the company to save time needed to identify and eliminate discrepancies in transportation plans as well as to shorten the cycles of transport planning.
Key features of the module:
Shipment planning;
Optimized usage of transportation equipment;
Optimized loading and unloading;
Organization of multi-modal shipments;
Shipment management for all types of transport: avia, auto, rail and sea;
Optimization of delivery routes;
Selection of delivery tariffs and routes depending on given parameters for transportation and transportation companies;
Graphic depiction of rates (tariff diagrams);
Tracking shipments;
Unified information space with suppliers and customers;
An option of flexible configuration and integration with accounting systems, order management systems and storage solutions as well as with GIS systems;
Planned and actual calculation of revenues and expenses related to transportation;
Calculation of the shipment costs on the basis of various algorithms.
Advantages of using Oracle Transportation Management:
Reduction of transportation expenses (automatic optimization by transportation company, routes, rates, etc.);
Saving time for shipment organization;
Complete elimination of “manual” routine operations;
Forming primary data for subsequent analysis and substantiated decision-making.
Implementation:
MIIT (Moscow State University of Transportation), short overview.
Moscow State University of Transportation is one of the oldest and biggest University of transport in Russia. Today, MIIT count 17000 students and postgraduate students, 7 institutes inside the university, 4 schools. As part of its international activities, MIIT work with 53 universities and firms from 28 CIS’s governments and countries.
Project’s missions:
Incorporation of Oracle Transportation Management in MIIT’s educating program.
Elaboration of different business-scenarios for the realization of desk studies as, for instance, the use of Oracle Transportation Management in the board of transport and logistic companies, project on the adaptation of Oracle’s products towards transport companies for the higher education’s need. This project, fruit of the cooperation between FORS and MIIT, is the first project of that sort in Russia.
Description of the concept:
1. Development of the series of lectures in order to build the multimodal shipment program with the help of the demo provided by Oracle Transportation Management.
2. Creation of teaching-methods material on the application of Oracle Transportation Management following these different schemes/structures:
Organization of transport applications;
Organization of transport itineraries;
Organization of tariff scale;
Determination of the transport cost in reliance on the tariff scale;
Planning and optimization of the transport;
Optimization of the storage;
Carrying out call for tenders in terms of request;
Work with standard accounting system.
3. Adjustment of Oracle Transportation Management module thanks to teaching-method material:
Workplace organization for the students;
Creation of business-scenario for the users;
Filling of prior information guide, in order to develop business-scenarios.
